Step 1: Start the Load Entry Process
To begin, enter the load details. This can either be done manually or by uploading a rate confirmation. Ensure the information is accurate, including descriptions, load details, and charges.
Step 2: Select the Brokerage Company
Change the tag to the brokerage company you're working with. For example, select SecureExpress as the brokerage company from the available options.
Step 3: Choose a Third-Party Carrier
Next, in step four, select "Third-Party" as the carrier type. Choose a third-party carrier from your list, such as ABC Trucking.
Once you select the third-party carrier, the system will automatically populate the charges for the load, which is initially priced at $653.
Step 4: Add Accessorial Fees
Add any additional charges or accessorial fees that apply to the load. You can input both the fees you’re charging the customer and the fees you’re paying the third-party carrier.
Step 5: Set the Selling Price
Now, at the bottom of step 4, set the selling price for the load. For example, if you’re selling the load for $500, enter that price.
Step 6: Review the Rate Confirmation
Before submitting, it’s important to check the rate confirmation and BOL to ensure everything looks correct.
Step 7: Submit the Load
Once you’ve reviewed everything, hit Submit. The system will send the rate confirmation and BOL to the client you’re dispatching the load to.
Step 8: Access Documents
You can view the related documents in the Documents section. This will include the third-party carrier details and the rate confirmation for the load.
Using a Third-Party Carrier as an Asset Carrier
If you decide to bring the third-party carrier into your asset system, you can set them up as a driver for your own fleet. Here’s how to do that:
Go to Assets → Drivers section and tag the driver as part of your company (e.g., Secure Express).
Once set up, go to Dispatch, select the load, and choose Company Carrier and assign the driver.
Dispatch the load by hitting Submit, which will treat the load as if it were being handled by your own drivers, but with the third-party carrier.
If you’re dispatching to a third-party carrier not under your MC number, the process will be similar to dispatching to your own drivers, but the carrier will not be listed under your operating authority.
Remember, the third-party carrier will need access to the driver’s app to complete the process.
